What other roles do you hold on campus?

Dorm Faculty, Middle School Class Dean, All-School Photography

What was it about Walker’s that made you want to work here?

What made me want to work at Walker’s was the evident drive Walker’s has to prioritize girls education. I love the thought of being a part of creating an environment where young people can be curious, take risks in their educational journey, and have a safe space within this community to grow a sense of self by being surrounded by endless encouragement. This is everything, I believe, Walker’s has to offer to young people.

What is the most rewarding part about working at Walker’s?

The most rewarding part about working at Walker’s is experiencing the students’ love of learning. It is magical to work alongside a student facing an obstacle and witness their perseverance when problem-solving the issue to come out on the other side, gaining confidence. The opportunity to work in an environment where failure isn’t scrutinized but noted as an essential part of anyone’s learning process has been amazing.

What is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place on campus has to be the Centennial Center Lawn behind Beaver Brook. This has always been a lively place for gatherings and Walker’s beloved traditional celebrations. The view of Talcott Mountain from here is unmatched.

What was your favorite subject when you were in middle or high school? Why?

My favorite subject in school was art. This class offered me a safe space to experience and explore self-expression creatively, which grew my ability to problem-solve in and out of the classroom. Art class is where I learned the most about myself throughout my educational journey.

Why did you want to go into teaching?

I went into teaching because of my innate love of learning. I want to be a part of assisting young people in their educational journey and creating a safe space for exploration. I want to cultivate a sense of belonging where everyone can be curious, celebrate diversity, and build trust within their community.

What is your favorite part of the subject you teach now?

My favorite part of teaching digital art is helping students find their unique creative style through exploratory exercises. This allows them to gain confidence as they make consistent decisions when creating artwork. This process is very personal to whoever is creating and offers that individual the opportunity to learn a lot about themselves.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

My favorite things to do in my free time are spending time with family, reading, creating, and being in nature. If I can do all these things simultaneously, it has been a perfect day.
