vs. Miss Porter's School

On Saturday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team hosted Miss Porter’s as part of Family Weekend in a Founder’s League contest. Entering the game, Walker’s had been undefeated at home, but Porter’s came away with a 1-0 victory to end that streak.

In the opening half, the home team dominated the majority of the play, but the could not find the back of the net as they forced the play outshooting their opponents 8-5 and forcing the visitor’s goalkeeper into seven first-half saves.

The score remained 0-0 into the break, and it would stay that until there were 12 minutes remaining. Porter’s had gained the momentum throughout the second half, and they stole a pass out of the back to force a throw-in near the corner flag. On the throw, Porter’s was first to the ball and got to the end-line where their pass went into the six-yard box for a one-time finish.

That was how the game would end despite a couple of late chances for the hosts. Jenna Hamel ’25 recorded six saves in the goal for Walker’s. They will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Miss Hall’s for a WWNEPSSA Class C matchup. Kick-off in Pittsfield, MA is scheduled for 2:30.
