Game Summary
On Wednesday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team traveled to Millbrook, NY to take on Millbrook School in a WWNEPSSA contest. Walker’s came away with a 3-0 victory for their second shutout of the season.
Lucie Martinelli ’27 scored all three goals in the game, and is now Walker’s leading goal scorer on the season with nine goals to her name. Martha O’Donnell ’23 started the play with a great effort on the left side of the field. Her cross found Ayden Riendeau ’26 who settled ball nicely in Martinelli’s path. Martinelli wasted no time in placing the one-time shot in the lower right corner for a 1-0 lead. The score would stay that way into halftime despite the Wildcats creating more chances.
Martinelli would put the game out of reach 11 minutes after halftime with two goals in 90 seconds for her first hat-trick of the season. Riendeau recorded an assist on the second goal of the game for her team-leading seventh assist of the season. On the day, Jenna Hamel ’25 recorded the shutout while making three saves – all in the second half. This included a shot she tipped over the crossbar in the final five minutes. It is her second shutout of the season.
Walker’s will host Kingswood Oxford on Friday, November 11 for their final regular season game. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. with a celebration preceding the game for the seniors.
