Game Summary

On Monday afternoon, Walker’s varsity soccer team traveled to Suffield Academy for their first game in nine days.Walker’s jumped out to a two-goal lead at halftime, but could not hold on as the hosts came back to win 3-2. It was the third year in a row that the Tigers have come-from-behind to beat the Wildcats in this matchup.
Suffield held the advantage in play through the first 20 minutes, but Walker’s opened the scoring when Ayden Riendeau ’26 received a pass from Allison Hayes ’25 after Hayes stole the ball near the top of the penalty box. Riendeau took her time with her first touch and slotted home her second goal of the season to give the away side the lead with 12 minutes left in the first half. Eight minutes later, Emily Sanchez ’26 scored her first goal of her Walker’s career when her in-swinging corner kick went directly into the back post to double the lead. Emma Mazur ’27 made six saves in the first half for Walker’s in her first action of the season.
In the second half, the momentum changed back to Suffield’s favor after 10 minutes and they would score three unanswered goals. Walker’s created chances at multiple points over the final 40 minutes and particularly during the final five minutes, but Suffield held on for the victory.
Walker’s will return to action on Wednesday, Oct 2nd when they host Canterbury in a NEPSAC Class C contest. Kick-off in Simsbury is scheduled for 3:00.
