Game Summary
On Wednesday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team traveled to Pittsfield, MA for a WWNEPSSA Class C contest against Miss Hall’s. Walker’s jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they won 8-0 for their second shutout of the season.
Eight different players scored goals for the visitors including three members of the Class of 2028 all recording their first career goals. Maya Atwood ’26 led the way with the first goal of the game on a shot to the top of left corner. Allis Hayes ’25 scored on an assist from Jani Weber ’26 in the sixth minute to make it 2-0. Nine minutes later, Amelia Hamel 28 scored her first goal when Esther Asamoah ’28 played a pass to her near the penalty spot. Asamoah then got her first goal less than a minute later on a nice combination play with Gigi Peña ’26. Peña made it 5-0 in the 17th minute with the assist coming from Atwood.
After 24 minutes, Ayden Riendeau ’26 added her name to the scorebook with an unassisted effort and then Caroline Hayes ’27 scored her first of the season when Jenna Hamel ’25 played a cross to her and she headed it home to close out the first half.
On the day, Walker’s outshot their opponents 27-0 as Hamel and Emma Mazur ’27 combined for the shutout. Amelia Forde ’28 finished the scoring for the Wildcats with a goal in the final 90 seconds. She was first to Riendeau’s cross at the back post for her first career goal.
Walker’s will return to action on Saturday when they host Taft in a Founder’s League matchup. The Rhinos and Wildcats tied 1-1 last year. Saturday’s matchup is scheduled to kick-off in Simsbury at 2:30.
