Game Summary
On Wednesday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team earned a 5-2 win when they traveled to Millbrook for a WWNEPSSA Class C contest. Millbrook took a lead, but Walker’s fired back with four unanswered goals in their final regular season road game.
After controlling the run of play for the opening eight minutes, Walker’s ended up on their heels and Millbrook took advantage. The Mustangs scored in the 11th minute to lead 1-0. It would stay that way until the final moments of the first half when Walker’s scored three goals in a span of two minutes and 23 seconds. Gigi Peña led the way with her 14th goal of the season on an assist from Jani Weber ’26. Peña would then assist on the next two goals – both from Allison Hayes ’25 – as the Wildcats took the momentum into the halftime break.
In the second half, Walker’s went ahead 4-2 when Esther Asamoah ’28 scored her second of the season. Emily Sanchez ’26 placed a free kick into the penalty box and Maya Atwood ’26 headed it back across the grain where Asamoah was able to take a touch and then power a shot across the goal line.
Millbrook got one back in the 65th minute, but Caroline Hayes ’27 put the game out of reach when she headed home a header from Weber to make it 5-2 with just over six minutes on the clock.
Walker’s will return home for their final regular season game when they host Kingswood Oxford in a Founder’s League matchup. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 with Senior Day festivities happening beforehand.
