Game Summary
Choate traveled to Simsbury on Saturday for a Founders League match-up. Walker’s was eager to host Choate, as they sat at 10-2, as well, on the season. The game turned out to be all about defense, as the score would indicate, and points were at a premium as the game rolled on. Choate jumped out to an early 10-2 lead, but Walker’s fought back to go finish the first quarter down 10-9. A better second quarter saw Walker’s limit Choate to just 3 points – however, Walker’s was able to score just 7 of their own and led 16-13 at the half. The third quarter stayed on par with the rest of the game, as the teams combined for just 19 points. Holding a 2 point edge heading into the fourth quarter, Walker’s didn’t do enough on the offensive end to win the game. Mikayla Mobley ’22 hit a huge three with Walker’s down 5 with just under a minute left. After a few missed free throws by Choate, Walker’s had a chance to tie or win the game but Choate’s defender played great defense and Walker’s saw a contested lay-up bounce off the rim as the buzzer sounded. Walker’s drops to 10-3 on the season and will host Taft on Wednesday afternoon.
