Walker’s defeated Westover School today in Farmington at Miss Porter’s and hung on close to Porter’s but ultimately split in the double dual meet.
Walker’s had several incredible swims, numerous personal records, and overall a very successful meet, just the second of the New Year following the swim victory at Westminster the weekend before (minus the diving points). In the meet against Westover, Walker’s finished first in 10/11 events. Against Porter’s, Walker’s touched for first place points 5 times (2 opponent-declared exhibition) out of the 11 swimming events.
Highlights include Lucia Morales’, class of 2025, 100 freestyle (PR 1:01.49, 2nd place), Molly Thacker’s, class of 2024, 100 breaststroke (PR 1:27.01), and the race to the finish by Catalina Dotson (500 freestyle). Co-Captain Allison Wall made great strides in her fly, swimming the leg in the medley as a warmup for her 100 fly. Ten Zong ‘23 is making improvements in her stroke work in her first year on the team, along with teammate Ella Sabelawski ‘24. Cecilia Li ‘25 represented Walker’s placing third in her heat for the 200 freestyle. Congratulations to Ellie Lardner ‘23 who swam in her first Walker’s meet! Fast swims and overall first place swims include Kylie Donaldson ‘23 in the 100 backstroke and Amelia Peterson ‘24 in the 200 IM (2:14.34) and 100 fly (1:00.67). The 400 freestyle relay combination finished strong at the end of the meet (Morales, Donaldson, Natalie Stewart ‘23, Peterson). Congratulations to the entire team and to Swimmer of the Meet, Lucia, for her PR in her freestyle!
Walker’s will travel to Hopkins on Friday 1/28 for a 4:30 meet, originally scheduled for Saturday 1/29 but moved up early due to predicted snowstorms.
