vs. Renbrook School

Yesterday, the team played well, but we were unable to get the win in a very evenly matched game against Renbrook.

The game started off fast with Renbrook possessing the ball early and catching the Walker’s team on their heels. A skilled Renbrook midfielder was able to find success weaving through traffic throughout the first half, resulting in the first goal of the game. Walker’s worked hard to earn possession of the ball in the first half, but had trouble working up the field. And again, Renbrook was able to score off of an unmarked player in the box.

With two minutes left until halftime Walker’s began to play with intention and energy, connecting passes and moving the ball into our attacking third. Pushing up the field Stella was able to find Amelia in front of goal, who buried a shot past the Renbrook goalkeeper. The half ended 1-2 in favor of Renbrook.

In the second half, Walker’s used their halftime momentum to play with purpose, keeping their eyes upfield, hustling to the ball, and finding feet on passes. The second half saw plenty of back and forth action as the evenly matched teams battled for control of possession. Walker’s goalie Maya G made some incredible 1v1 stops in the second half to keep the game in reach, and centerback Gabby C had some great tackles against Renbrook’s skilled players.

The game ended as a 1-2 loss for the Walker’s team who played hard until the final whistle.
