Boarding Student

Involvement: Advancement Ambassador, Basketball, Personal Fitness, Cicerone

“I became a Walker’s student in the fall of my sophomore year. Being a cicerone is important to me because I have enjoyed the time I have spent at Walker’s and I want to share that with prospective students and their families. One of the biggest things I aim to show prospective families about Walker’s, is how close knit our community is and how Walker’s feels like a family from the first time you step onto campus.”

What is a unique experience you’ve had at Walker’s that you didn’t think you’d be involved in when arriving at Walker’s?

A unique experience I had since coming to Walker’s is becoming an Advancement Ambassador. One of my favorite parts of being an Advancement Ambassador was being able to spend time with alums during alumni weekend. Hearing their stories and learning about what Walker’s was like when they were students was very interesting.

Boarding students: what is your favorite part about being a boarder?

My favorite part of being a boarder is getting to spend time with my friends in the dorm. Some of our favorites activities were playing card games in the common room and watching movies together. Another of my favorite things is getting to enjoy treats that our dorm parents made for us.

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

My advice is to manage the time effectively. It is important to manage time and make a plan to complete the tasks assigned by teachers. Enjoy life while everything is on schedule.

How do you feel you have grown (academically, emotionally, mentally) since your first day at Walker’s?

Since coming to Walker’s I have developed the skill of asking for help when I need it. Whether it was a question on a project or an extra help session before a test or an exam, my teachers are always happy to help. Being able to ask for help has improved my understanding in class.
