Game Summary
On Saturday afternoon, Walker’s varsity soccer team played host to Taft in a WWNEPSSA contest. The home team was on the defensive for much of the game, but there were no goals in the first half of play for either team. Taft came out of the halftime break quickly and earned a 5-0 victory on the day.
In the opening half, Jenna Hamel ’25 continued her strong season in the goal for Walker’s. She saved a penalty kick, and made six other saves to keep the game scoreless. Walker’s also recorded five shots, but Taft had the advantage with 13 first-half shots and they took that momentum to the second half.
The Rhinos scored all five of their goals in the opening 20 minutes of the second half to put the game out of reach. All of their goals were scored by five different players. Hamel finished the day with 13 saves for the Wildcats.
Walker’s will travel to Millbrook on Wednesday, November 9 for their final road game of the regular season. Kick-off in NY is set for 2:45 p.m.
